Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
Each student is unique, with special interests, and this standard strives to help students to learn in the way that is best for them, while encouraging their gifts and talents.
I found it very interesting to learn what my learning style was in this class. Understanding it really helped me to look back and see why I thrived in and enjoyed certain classes, while I struggled to learn and pay attentionin others. This standard would have teachers aiding students to figure out what they best way for them to learn is and then have them design and develop ways, using technology, to help them learn better. For example, if one student learns better visually, he or she could be taught how to make flowcharts in class. If another students learns through verbal instruction, then that individual could go and learn how to have things spoken out by the computer.
A good teacher will present various ways to utilize technology in the classroom, and by doing this, students will be able to try out different ways to learn, but they will also realize which way is best for them. Once they figure this out, it is likely that they will be excited to learn in ways that best suit them. They will enjoy being creative and designing and developing lessons and assignments that are individualized to meet their specific needs.
Technology, in my opinion, is especially useful when it comes to different learning styles. There are so many options that come with technology, and many teachers simply scratch the surface.
