My name is Katherine Hu, and this blog was created with the intention of sharing my goals and knowledge of technology and the NETS-T Standards as a teacher.
Born on the Big Island of Hawaii, I attended a Christian high school before moving on to Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI, where I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. As of now, I am planning graduate with a planned, language arts, and reading minor.
I love young children and their enthusiam, and hope to teach lower elementary students.
Reading has always been a love of mine (classic novels are a favorite in particular), but I also enjoy grammar and writing. I find enjoyment in browsing art museums and have a great affinity for tea. I discovered Ergo Tea in Chicago, and I absolutely love the place. Some of my other hobbies include running, cooking, and snorkeling.
While I always though that technology was useful, I never really saw its place in the classroom until I took EDU 262. I feel as though my eyes have been opened to the possibilities of what I can do in the classroom by using technology, and I have found many of the things I have learned can be applicable in my life now. I have used much of what I have learned in other education classes, so I have experienced first hand how positive technology can be. Using it was fast, efficient, and easy, which encourage me to realize that using technology really might not be as time-consuming as I may have thought it would be.
Here are my pre and post Profiler badges. You can see the difference in my knowledge of technology before and after my technology class.
